April Tips

Alec’s Training Tip of the Month

Want to do some spring cleaning but your pooch keeps having accidents in the house?  One simple tip that the vast majority of the public does not know, is that after an old accident has been found, never discipline your dog. If you do, you are simply teaching your dog that the act of you finding it is what the negative attention is from. Next time they feel the urge, they will be sure to hide it better! If you or someone you know is having difficulties with housebreaking a dog, please give our training department a call or email. Our trainers are extremely proficient in teaching you how to teach your dog that your house is not their potty!

Diane’s Grooming Tip of the Month

Cotton balls can help keep water from getting inside your dog’s ears during a bath. Try placing a cotton ball loosely inside each ear at the opening of the ear canal, but not down inside the canal.  Very small dogs might need just half a cotton ball, and very large breeds might need two cotton balls per ear. Your dog will probably shake the cotton ball out of his/her ears after the bath, but if not, the cotton balls can be gently removed after the bath.
